As I was driving home the other day, I saw some early daffodils defying the cold and gloomy weather to provide a small glimpse of spring starting. The start of the year was both cold and wet, and I look forward to better weather!

Michael visits award winning pub

Michael was delighted to visit the Sandford Pub to congratulate Jamie and Zanda Perry for being the Regional Winner in the Enterprise Community Hero Awards.  They are working hard to make the pub as welcoming as possible, to involve the local community.

Michael attends opening of new Viewing Point

It was a glorious morning in Upton for the opening of the new viewing platform in Lytchett Bay.

 

Michael was delighted to be able to be there and see how accessible the paths are, enabling the local community to enjoy this beautiful natural environment.

Michael welcomes money for housing

Local Councillors have welcomed the news that Councils across Dorset have been given financial support from the Government to drive forward community-led affordable housing. Funding has been received to help mitigate the impact of second homes which are prevalent across the County.

I often feel that the title of this column can be misleading – whilst I do spend Monday to Thursday each week in London, my focus is always on what can benefit the people in Mid Dorset and North Poole.

Christmas Card competition

As last year, I had a competition for local schools to design my Christmas cards. I received entries from 5 schools, and Vic Martin and "Art on the Heath" from Canford Heath chose a design from each school. There were some amazing designs, and I know it was a difficult choice!
