 I was honoured and humbled to be re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Mid Dorset and North Poole. Since being first elected in 2015, I have tried to keep local residents at the heart of what I do, and I am touched that people have recognised this by voting for me again.

Michael Supports Christian Aid

Michael tucked in at a Christian Aid Big Brekkie event in Parliament to show his support for Christian Aid Week (14-20 May 2017, caweek.org), which is raising money for refugees fleeing conflict around the world.

Michael asks Prime Minister to support Great Get Together

Michael used his question to the prime Minister during last week’s PMQs to highlight a new initiative in honour of Jo Cox.

The Prime Minister joined local MP Michael Tomlinson in backing the Great Get Together initiative in honour of former MP Jo Cox.

Visit to Bergen prison

During Parliamentary recess Michael took the opportunity to visit a prison in Bergen in Norway. It is a special unit for offenders aged 15-18.

Homelessness Reduction Bill

The Homelessness Reduction Bill has taken a key step towards legislation as Parliament voted in favour of the Bill as it passed the final stages in the Commons. The Bill will now proceed to the House of Lords and pending any further amendments, it should receive Royal Ascent in 2017. 

Prison Visit

Michael recently visited HMP Wandsworth for a special behind the scenes tour. Michael joined fellow MP Guy Opperman to hear about the innovative work at Wandsworth to rehabilitate prisoners and better prepare them for productive lives upon release.

Michael Tomlinson MP urges small businesses to seek free advice

Michael was delighted to attend an event in parliament this week hosted by Energy UK and Business Debtline – the free advice service run by national debt charity the Money Advice Trust – to hear about some of the issues facing small business owners.
