Michael visits the Port of Poole

Michael recently visited the Port of Poole and chatted to the CEO of Poole Harbour Commissioners about the port. Michael was shown around the port by Jim Stewart, and heard about Brexit readiness and the challenges and opportunities for the port.

Michael visits Colehill Community Library

Every year Dorset libraries run a summer reading challenge for children. This year the theme is "Space Race" and Michael visited Colehill Community library to hear about how many children had signed up. 

 

Michael visits Heatric

Michael was pleased to be able to visit local business Heatric recently. His discussed various aspects of the business including their work in carbon capture and energy storage. This growing area of activity is very much aligned to the agenda for  greener power generation and energy sectors.

Michael went to visit Tops Day Nursery to discuss funding challenges facing the early years sector and parents. 

Michael meets Police and Crime Commissioner candidate

Michael recently met with David Sidwick who is standing as the Conservative candidate to be the next Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset. They discussed a range of issues including anti-social behaviour and crime reduction across Dorset. 

 

Michael meets young people from Poole

Michael was really pleased to join Conor Burns MP from Bournemouth West to meet up with a group of young people from Poole visiting Parliament. They were there with Poole Young Parliament for a tour and the chance to grill the MPs. 

 

 

Michael meets community ambassador

Michael met with a community ambassador for Cancer Research UK in Wimborne Library. They discussed the importance of early diagnosis for cancer, and the importance of those caring for people with cancer. 

Youth Employment All Party Group

Michael chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Youth Employment. At the latest meeting, Samantha Windett of Impetus presented the findings of a new report into the circumstances of young people who are not in education, employment and training (NEET).
