State Opening of Parliament

For the first time in 70 years the State Opening of Parliament had a King's Speech. It was a privilege to be there listen to His Majesty deliver his first King’s Speech. Written by the Government, the speech was delivered by The King from the Sovereign’s Throne in the House of Lords. 

Michael plants Commemorative Stake

Every year in Parliament there is a special Garden of Remembrance for those who have died in the service of this country. Each Member of Parliament is invited to plant a stake on behalf of their constituents. 

 

Michael collects litter and launches Litter Survey

Michael joined Councillors Paul Harrison and Mike Barron for a litter pick in Corfe Mullen this week. "Keep Corfe Mullen Clean" are a fantastic group of volunteers who give up their time to do community litter picks around Corfe Mullen - and even clean up the street signs! 

Situation in Israel

The events we have seen unfolding in Israel are truly horrific. The Government has rightly and utterly condemned the appalling terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad that began on 7 October.  

Michael Attends New Childcare Open Morning

Michael was delighted to attend the open morning at the new BizzyBeez childcare facility in Dorset today. Situated just outside Poole, and offering childcare for children aged 6 months to 4 years, Bizzybeez is a new business run by a local family from Upton. 

 

Answering Questions in the House of Commons

As Solicitor General, Michael regularly answers questions at the Despatch Box in the House of Commons alongside the Attorney General. Today he answered questions about rural and Government solicitors, serious fraud and scams, and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Princess Royal Visits Holton Lee

Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal came to visit Millie College at Holton Lee. Millie College is run by the Livability charity, which has the Princess as its patron.

Creating a smoke-free generation

At the recent Party Conference in Manchester, the Prime Minister announced plans to create the first ‘smokefree generation’, by gradually increasing the age at which it is legal to buy tobacco.
