Promoting Jobs & Investment

Mid Dorset and North Poole is a great place to live and work, and I’m pleased that our unemployment rate is about half that of the national level. During my time in Parliament, I have championed young people getting into work; through my work on the All Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Employment, offering work experience placements in my office, employing interns and apprentices, running apprenticeship fairs and job clubs and mentoring young people in back-to-work projects.

I’m also keen to promote local businesses, and I’m delighted that there’s been a 20% increase in the number of businesses in Mid Dorset and North Poole since 2015.I often meet local business owners to see how I can support them, and promote investment into our area.
